I’ve not cared about Davey Wavey for years now, but it was brought to my attention today that he came out with a video that touched on “7 Lies that Gays Tell” - I decided to check it out, because as someone with 100,000 subscribers, I expect him to not only be a good representation of the gay community, but hopefully be a good example for gay youth. I was sorely disappointed.
In the video, Davey explained that the majority of gays lie about:
- how many partners they’ve ever had
- using gay hookup sites
- cheating on their boyfriends
- their penis size
- their fetishes
- having safe sex
- their age
I’m absolutely disgusted by the fact that people support him. It’s one thing to have those negative qualities yourself, I don’t care about that. Handle your scandal. But to project onto your impressionable audience the idea that these negative stereotypes are common is simply deplorable. There are gay youth still trying to figure out gay culture who will see this and think that these things are okay. THEY ARE NOT. Even worse, there are homophobic people who are trying to figure out gay culture who will see a gay man proudly flaunting these false negative stereotypes who will take them as fact. THEY ARE NOT.
Needless to say, the cherry on top is the fact that he uses his body to attract viewers - disgustingly shameless.
Don’t watch his video. It doesn’t deserve the views.
